Are you a skilled Civil/Highways Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to make a real impact? Network Recruitment Wales is seeking two motivated and experienced professionals to join a dynamic team on a 12-week temporary assignment in the heart of Powys. This is your chance to contribute to critical highways projects, delivering high-quality resurfacing and maintenance solutions while working in a supportive and fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Support the Principal Works Engineer/Senior Works Engineer in delivering highway resurfacing and maintenance projects from feasibility to completion.
- Conduct visual inspections of carriageways, identifying areas for structural patching, resurfacing, or preventative maintenance.
- Prepare detailed designs, calculations, drawings, bills of quantities, and tender packages.
- Supervise on-site works, ensuring compliance with NEC4 contracts, CDM regulations, and health & safety standards.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including utility companies, council members, and the public, to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Monitor project progress to ensure schemes are delivered on time and within budget.
- Incorporate ecological and biodiversity considerations into designs and construction processes.
- Undertake occasional evening, night-time, or weekend supervision as needed.
- Experience: Proven track record in highway resurfacing and maintenance projects, working within teams to deliver on time and budget, and experience with job costing and financial planning.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, Chapter 8 TM, and current construction best practices. Familiarity with environmental legislation is a plus.
- Qualifications: HND or equivalent in an engineering-related discipline.
- Skills: Excellent organisational and communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in IT. Ability to work independently and handle challenging situations with professionalism.
- Personal Qualities: Self-motivated, methodical, and a collaborative team player with strong analytical skills.
- Other Requirements: Valid UK driving licence, willingness to travel, and flexibility to work outside normal office hours when required.
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the UK and able to provide a Confidentiality Agreement and Criminal Convictions Declaration upon offer acceptance.
