Approved Mental Health Professional, Kingston  
Pay rate - £40 per hour.  
To carry out Mental Health Act assessments and related duties as an Approved Mental Health Professional. The successful candidate will for a member of our full time AMHP team and work as a frontline AMHP or back up each day as part of our monthly rota. Main purpose of the role is to act as full time Approved Mental Health Act Professional (AMHP) as required by the Mental Health Act; operating from the Mental Health Social Care Team / AMHP Service carrying out AMHP duties. Liaise with key partner agencies to develop and maintain multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working to deliver a high quality of AMHP service. To assess and where appropriate arrange admission to hospital either formally or informally, or to refer / signpost to least restrictive alternatives to admission. To support the Mental Health Trust in ensuring effective gatekeeping of all admissions liaising with crisis and Home Treatment teams and medical colleagues as appropriate. To provide advice and support with regard to the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act to other professionals, clients and and relatives as appropriate. To take referrals from across the borough for both Guardianship and Community Treatment Orders on a rota basis and in liaison with the AMHP Lead The main contacts of the job will be MHSCT Practitioners, Team Managers, Trust Managers, others including Legal services, Police, Local Authority Staff and independent and voluntary sector organisations, Service Providers, service users their relatives and carers, members of the public.
