Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Continuous Water Quality Monitoring (CWQM) team where you will be responsible for all data management related to the

Continuous Water Quality Monitoring programme (CWQM). The CWQM Data Manager will ensure continuous water quality data, and metadata related to the delivery and management of CWQM data are appropriately collected and stored. The data will be used internally and externally, andit must bes managed and stored effectively and in a way that is easily accessible and interpretable.

What you’ll be doing as a Continuous Water Quality Monitoring (CWQM) Data Manager
  • Manage water quality data from CWQMs and metadata related to CWQM, including asset maintenance records, geospatial, installation, downtime, supporting evidence, and photographic data.
  • Develop and maintain databases for storing and tracking water quality data and the metadata associated with CWQM.
  • Perform quality assurance procedures to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Prepare data reports, charts, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Weekly reporting shared with the CWQM team/dashboard showing data availability/uptime/downtime.
  • Work alongside Digital, OT, and the WSO to integrate data into internal systems/tools where appropriate.
  • Annual reporting to the EA following the CWQM Defra guidance.
  • Regulatory reporting as and when requested by regulators.

Base location: Hybrid - Clearwater Court - RG1 8DB.

Requirements for the role: a valid UK driving license and or a willingness to travel.

What you should bring to the role
  • Experience in producing detailed management reports.
  • Strong analytical background, including Excel, MS Access, SQL, Power BI, ArcGIS Online, and FME.
  • Knowledge and capability in a wide variety of additional analytical tools and ETL (e.g. Python, SQL, Databricks, Microsoft Flow, Azure Data Factory).
  • Extensive previous experience in data management.
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Data Management, Hydrology, or a related field.
  • Experience with remote sensing technologies and water quality monitoring equipment is desirable.
  • Experience working with government agencies and environmental regulations is desirable.
  • Experience using Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning to aid interpretation/ prediction of water quality is desirable.
