An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially driven Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and growing construction contractor based in Plymouth. This Quantity Surveyor role is central to the successful commercial delivery of a diverse portfolio of construction projects across the region.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved from early-stage procurement and budgeting through to final accounts, working closely with project teams, clients, and supply chain partners. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who wants to make a tangible impact within a forward-thinking construction environment that values collaboration, sustainability, and best practice.
The business offers a full range of construction services with a portfolio that spans a wide range of sectors, including education, healthcare, heritage, commercial, retail, industrial, and defence projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take the commercial lead as Quantity Surveyor on multiple construction projects
- Manage budgeting, procurement, and cost control to ensure commercial success
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the supply chain
- Prepare and present financial reports, including CVRs and cost forecasts
- Support sustainability and social value objectives in line with recognised frameworks
- Work closely with clients, site teams, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery
- Provide commercial and contractual support, including assistance with dispute resolution
- Degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor or equivalent professional experience
- Membership of, or working towards, RICS (or similar professional body)
- Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts and construction legislation
- Excellent commercial awareness and analytical reporting capability
- Understanding of sustainable procurement and social value frameworks
- Experience working within ISO-certified management systems is advantageous
