About the Role
We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services to join a leading M&E consultancy on the South Coast. This is an exciting opportunity to work across healthcare, education, commercial, research, and industrial sectors, delivering technically robust, sustainable electrical solutions.
As an Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services, you’ll design, coordinate, and deliver high-quality electrical systems while working in integrated project teams from feasibility through to detailed design and completion. The consultancy prides itself on low-carbon, energy-efficient, and innovative engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and coordinate electrical services: lighting, power, data, standby, and containment systems
- Prepare load schedules, cable calculations, single-line diagrams, specifications, and technical packages
- Produce accurate drawings using AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, and other electrical design tools
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical and sustainability engineers, throughout all project stages
- Support tender preparation, fee planning, and client liaison
- Conduct site visits, fault analysis, and technical problem-solving
- Champion sustainable and low-carbon design, integrating renewable energy technologies where possible
- HND/BEng/MEng in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
- 2–5 years’ experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy
- Competent in BS 7671, CIBSE standards, and current UK regulations
- Proficient with Amtech/Dialux, AutoCAD; Revit/BIM experience is highly desirable
- Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to self-manage deliverables
- Proactive problem solver, comfortable taking technical ownership and delivering client-ready solutions
- Membership of CIBSE or actively working towards chartership is advantageous
