My First Few Weeks at Procurement People

Just like the candidates we work with, us recruiters change companies too. Two weeks ago it was my turn to walk into a new office and start with a new business.

I joined Executive Network Group’s specialist brand Procurement People, a team that is the most networked agency within the sector for candidates.

I was given a warm welcome by Lauren Howard (The best Rec2Rec I have worked with) and we went to my desk and what welcomed me was a bottle of Champagne and 2 bags of Haribo… But also my new team I shouldn’t forget to mention them. As I got settled at my desk, we all had a good catch up as it had been two weeks since I met them for a pre-start drink.

From then on the learning began!!!! I spent time learning about new processes, new sector, new door codes… I spent time with everyone in the wider business getting to know them, their desks and how they work. This was fantastic for me, as it allowed me to see how other people worked and pick up new skills. Everyone in the business was welcoming and gave up their time and it has made me feel really welcome very quickly and that helped me feel settled and part of the larger ENG team.

I also spent time with my own team getting to know their desks and also picking their brains as I learned new lingo and buzz words that are in Procurement. It is clear to see how the team truly are “inch wide, mile deep,” in their approach and understanding. Also they are all fantastic people who go above and beyond for their candidates, clients and each other. I will be recruiting within Manufacturing, but will have a focus towards Pharmaceuticals, R&D and Medical devices.

At the start of my second week, I started working alongside Alex one of our executive search consultants to discuss a Global Group Head of Procurement role we would be recruiting for. It is a fantastic role, great salary and exciting business all things that make the recruitment process fun and engaging for candidates and clients. During this last week, I have spoken with and met with candidates for roles and networking with leaders in their field, quickly founding procurement is a sector all about relationships.

I am excited to be at the start of my Procurement People journey, I know that working with such a fantastic business and team will help me support some fantastic companies and clients. But also achieve my goals along the way.
